Mikael Hemniti Winther 

Ambassador of Denmark to Korea

Mr. Mikael Hemniti Winther was accredited as Ambassador to the Republic of Korea on 29th September 2025. Before that, he was the Consul General of Denmark to Shanghai, since 1st September 2022. He served previously as Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 4 years responsible for the financial management of the Danish Development co-operation.  

Ambassador Winther has had a distinguished career as a Danish diplomat serving most of his time in Asia and in management positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen. He has served 3 times as Ambassador of Denmark and one time as Consul General with rank as Ambassador.  

Mr. Winther has also worked as an Associate Professor at Copenhagen University, Institute for Political Science and at Copenhagen Business School, Institute for  International Economics. In 2021, Copenhagen University, Institute for Political  Science appointed him as External Examiner.
